2+2=FUN!

April 4, 2011

Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting Alicia Hartfield of Moments Photography. I was planning to shoot the birth of her twins but things did not work out as planned! So instead, we met up for a family session. She has a gorgeous family. The session was pretty long, but what would you expect when taking pictures of two rambunctious boys and 2 week old twins?? It was certainly a fun experience though filled with laughs, jokes, and lots of pee and poop (I’ll let you guess who did what ;) ). Unfortunately, baby boy was totally not up for having his picture taken, but we did make do with what he gave us!

Meet the handsome big brothers!

Smiley baby sister (ONLY GIRL!!)

And here is Baby boy counting down just how many seconds I have left to take his picture! HA!

Alicia, it was great meeting you and your family!

This little one broke the record as my smallest baby ever photographed, tipping the scale at only 4 lbs. Mom told me this over the phone, but I was still surprised when I saw just how tiny he truly is! He made the CUTEST little noises. He also happened to be the first baby who slept through an entire session. We had to really work for the awake shots. That NEVER happens!

Sweet, Sweet Baby Contest

February 10, 2011

We received 7 entries for the contest! Since there were not enough entries for each age group, all ages have been grouped together in order to allow everyone to participate and have a chance at winning. Voting will begin today and end on Sunday, February 20, 2011 at midnight.

Here’s how the voting will work: In order to place a vote on the blog, you will simply leave the number of the baby you want to vote for in a comment on this blog post. Only one vote per person (IP address) is allowed. Voting will be monitored closely. If cheating is suspected, the contestant will be disqualified, so remember to play fairly! But there’s also a way to get two additional votes from the same person without cheating…FACEBOOK. Once your vote has been successfully placed here on the blog, head on over to my facebook biz page at http://www.facebook.com/#!/JeniaJohnsonPhotography. Once there, you can like my page and then leave a comment there about the contestant you are voting for. An easy 3 votes per person!  In order to give your child the best chance at winning, send the blog link (sent to you in the email) to everyone you know and ask them to do the same! Good luck everyone!

Here are the sweet (and beautiful) contestants!

~~UPDATE: A contestant has been removed from the contest due to personal reasons, so you will notice that a number is missing. No other numbers have been changed so that all votes will be counted correctly. Thanks everyone!~~

Sweet, Sweet Baby Contest

January 24, 2011

I think it’s time for a contest around here, what do you think?? The last contest I did was  in 2008, so YES it’s time!

The Sweet, Sweet Baby contest will consist of four different categories and there will be one winner from each category (Yep, I’m feeling generous! ;) ).  The categories are as follows:

1) Sweet Babies- 6weeks-5months

2) Sweet Crawlers- 5 mos-9mos (must be sitting unassisted)

3) Sweet Cruisers- 10mos-1yr

4) Sweet Toddlers- 1yr-2yrs

To enter the contest, you will simply email a candid portrait (non professional) of your child to contact@jeniajohnsonphotography.com and include the appropriate category in the subject line. I will need at least 5 participants in each category in order to start the contest, so spread the word to friends and family so they can enter as well. I will be accepting entries through Monday, January 31 at midnight (voting has been extended to Sunday, Feb 6 at midnight!!). Once all entries have been approved, I will put the pictures up on the blog and open it for voting.

One lucky person from each category will win a complimentary session with a $100 portrait credit!!

The (not so) fine print: The prize holds NO cash value. Session must be booked within 7 days of announcing the winners or else the prize will be handed down to the runner up. All winners are subject to the minimum purchase agreement of $150. Professional photos will not be accepted.

So go on and send in those pictures and don’t forget to spread the word!

Happy 2011!!

January 5, 2011

I apologize for the lack of posts and pictures here! Unfortunately, I’ve had to stop booking sessions for the past two months b/c my son has been very ill. I’m not exactly sure when I will be able to open my schedule back up, but as soon as I do I will post here! And it will be worth your wait because I have some exceptional deals in store for my 2011 clients!

Hoping your new year will bring you lots of joy, love, laughter and SMILES!!

Today I had the pleasure of working with this sweet little guy. He was so tiny, sweet, and calm :)

Don’t let that first picture fool you though! This little guy did not want to sleep at all! He wanted to see everything that was going on around him.  The good thing, though, is that since he is such a calm baby I was able to continue on with the session even though he was awake. I had some other ideas for him and I did try lots of tricks to try and get him to sleep, but nothing worked! LOL! But it really didn’t matter b/c this baby had some amazing eye contact for only 7 days old.

I’m pretty sure he slept for the rest of the day though!

My handsome boy

November 10, 2010

Poor Jayden hasn’t been able to tolerate the sun and the heat this year so the majority of his summer was spent indoors. This made for a very long and frustrating summer! And no pictures, which made me sad. Once the weather started cooling off (Jayden’s claims this is HIS doing! “YAY! I did it!”) he started to attempt to play outside even if just for a few minutes. But any direct exposure to the sun still makes him uncomfortable. We had a cold front to come through this week so I was determined to get him outside for a few pictures. On Monday morning, it was 70 degrees outside and we had a little breeze, so I gave it a shot. He was coming down with a cold, so the shoot lasted all of 10 minutes. We went to the park in our neighborhood and out of 10 shots, I got one smile! LOL :)

I think it was well worth it! I plan to get him outside for as long as he can tolerate it and get some pictures of him  everyday that we has some cool weather. I think it will be good for the both of us :)

Pumpkin Carving

October 22, 2010

Jayden seems to love everything about Halloween. Costumes, scary movies, spiders, CANDY!!, and pumpkins. He still has a hard time pronouncing most words, but he can say pumpkin just as well as the rest! He had been begging for a pumpkin for a while and telling me that he wanted to give the pumpkin “eyes, nose, and a mouth” so we went and picked out a pumpkin for him last weekend. He wasn’t really feeling too good (having an allergic reaction to a new medication he was on) but he was determined to carve his pumpkin despite a very itchy face! And, in true 3 yr old form, he changed his mind about giving the pumpkin eyes, nose, and a mouth. He opted for the spider instead. My wrists were more than thrilled {sarcasm!!}
